BIRTHDAYS AND THE MARCH OF LIFE

ANOTHER BIRTHDAY: MARKING TIME

I have another birthday in two days… my Seventy-Sixth.
But I no longer want to “celebrate” my age,
So I have decided I will remain Seventy-Five from now on.

Denial can be quite soothing.
Seventy-Five is a proud age.
People are impressed in a positive way.
Not too old … still have years ahead
So…

No more counting the inexorable “march of years” toward… the end
No more dreading
Learn to Surrender

Be “new-birthed” each day
Live fully in Now
But be prepared for Then
By trusting Destiny

Allow for Change
Be open to New
Stand up to the Challenges
Of the Different

Learning flexibility
Shedding old habits and routines
Going with the Flow
Improvising
Re-Creating
Re-Imagining

Daring to Risk
Have Courage to Love
And to freely Let Go

Build Strength to Forgive
And move on with Hope

Damn! This can be hard work!

About Manywoman

I am an eclectic artist and writer, retired from a 35-year career as a PhD sex therapist and counselor at the University of MN Medical School, Program in Human Sexuality. Since retiring in 2005, I have devoted myself to hobbies and pursuits in various art forms and in writing. My art and writing both tend to focus on subjects of women's spirituality and occult mysteries, I read voraciously in most genres, but mainly Occult and urban fantasy, historical fiction, and non-fiction alternative history and religions from female perspective. In addition I am a lover of cats, with five at home with me; an avid collector of fashion dolls; a sewer and creator of art quilts and other fiber arts; a hap-hazard flower gardener; and a retired professional astrologer.
