SUMMER HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN!
June 21 marks the high point of the solar cycle when the sun has reached the peak of its journey and we get the longest days of the year. This lasts for about a week until daylight begins to dwindle once again. It slowly shrinks toward longer nights until we come to December 21 when nights are longest and days are shortest. Shortly thereafter, of course, days will gradually lengthen once more.
Dark and light thus perform a perpetual shifting and balancing act through our lives.
Both of these solar holy days are celebrated with bonfires, revelry, and cheerful fellowship.
The Summer Solstice also marks the Sun’s transit out of Gemini and into Cancer. But before getting there, we have had a Full Moon in Gemini on June 16. This was an auspicious full moon according to astrological soothsayers and we may feel our life having subtly shifted into new directions.
You will recall that Mercury recently made a regressive trip while in Gemini and has now (as of June 12) begun to move forward again. This means, among other things, that all those pesky delays and obstructions that littered our paths over the previous three weeks will have begun to right themselves and send things on a more progressive course.
If we were tuned into the cosmic cycles, we shall have completed some unfinished business and tied up some loose ends from past issues. Now we can feel free to move ahead on new goals and plans without the weight of those old problems weighing us down. Whee!
But the Crab of Cancer can tend to move rather slowly… unless it is prodded into action by unexpected urgency. These become the long lazy days of summer when we want to lay back and soak in the warmth, take a vacation, romp through the fields and chase butterflies. It’s a good time to relax, review our future plans and refuel our inner motors for a fresh start in the fall.
The Crab can be a great procrastinator. We need to go with the cosmic flow and try not to rush into new territory unprepared. Instead, join with friends in groups and celebrate. Live, Laugh, Love. It is Summer! Officially!
